The theme is inspired by Indonesia\u2019s young, tech-savvy population, which is driving the nation\u2019s booming innovation economy and transforming the entire spectrum of the nation\u2019s food industry. From Sri Lanka to Jakarta, Sydney to Seoul, Byron Bay to Bali, the first lineup reveal is testament to Indonesia\u2019s rising status on the world food stage.<\/p>\n<p>The first Sri Lankan chef to receive Michelin status, <strong>Rishi Naleendra<\/strong>, was Chef de Partie at Tetsuya\u2019s in Sydney before establishing <strong>Cheek by Jowl<\/strong> in Singapore. He\u2019ll be joined by Australian Chef-Owner <strong>Sam Aisbett<\/strong> of Singapore\u2019s Whitegrass, which was awarded its first Michelin star last year. The stars keep shining with Chef <strong>Jun Lee<\/strong>, whose <strong>Soign\u00e9<\/strong> restaurant in Seoul was awarded one star in 2016 and 2017.<\/p>\n<p>With a mission to bring Indonesian food, culture and art to the world, UFF welcomes the return of <em>MasterChef Indonesia<\/em> judge <strong>Rinrin Marinka<\/strong>, as well as the beloved Queen of\u00a0Indonesian cuisine, <strong>Ibu Sisca Soewitomo<\/strong>. Ibu Sisca has dedicated her 50+ year career to\u00a0nourishing Indonesia\u2019s food industry, and holds a warm place in the heart of the nation\u2019s\u00a0top chefs and food lovers alike.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019ll be joined by <strong>Hans Christian<\/strong>, Chef de Cuisine of <strong>View Restaurant by Fairmont\u00a0Jakarta<\/strong>, who prides himself on elevating Indonesia\u2019s culinary scene, and <strong>Andrian Ishak<\/strong>,\u00a0whose <strong>Namaaz Dining<\/strong> has been described as Indonesia\u2019s first molecular gastronomy\u00a0restaurant, and sits among the top of Jakarta\u2019s fine dining establishments.<\/p>\n<p>Proving that the nation\u2019s capital can rightfully take its place among the world\u2019s top dining\u00a0destinations, Indonesia\u2019s leading English-language F&amp;B publication, <strong>FoodieS Magazine<\/strong>, has\u00a0launched the inaugural <strong>Jakarta\u2019s Best Eats Awards and Guide<\/strong>. Appearing at UFF will be the\u00a0Award\u2019s <strong>Best Chef<\/strong> and <strong>Best Pastry Chef<\/strong>, announced in March.<\/p>\n<p>The Food for Thought stage, home to the UFF\u2019s in-depth discussions with industry leaders,\u00a0will welcome some of the nation\u2019s top innovators tackling environmental problems and\u00a0improving supply chains. Among them are <strong>David Christian<\/strong>, Co-founder of <strong>Evoware<\/strong>, a\u00a0startup producing food packaging from biodegradable, chemical-free farmed seaweed,\u00a0<strong>Thor Yumna<\/strong> of <strong>TaniHub<\/strong> and <strong>TaniFund<\/strong>, successful Indonesian startups empowering\u00a0farmers and improving agriculture, and <strong>Helianti Hilman<\/strong>, Founder of <strong>JAVARA Indonesia<\/strong>,\u00a0which works with over 52,000 farmers across the archipelago, selling over 700 artisanal\u00a0organic products for the domestic and export market.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis first round of speakers is but a tiny taste of the fantastic feast we\u2019ll be serving up\u00a0from 13\u201315 April,\u201d said UFF Founder &amp; Director Janet DeNeefe. \u201cWith world class chefs\u00a0from across the region, and incredible innovators improving the lives of farmers and\u00a0producers on who we all depend, we\u2019re proving that Indonesia now has its rightful place on\u00a0the world food map.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are also showing the world that now is actually a brilliant time to come to Bali,\u201d\u00a0DeNeefe continued. \u201cIt\u2019s quieter, cleaner and more peaceful.
