But despite its promise, the minds behind one of the most ambitious power projects in the world have crunched the numbers and found the most economical way of transporting Northern Australia&#8217;s green energy to the rest of the world is by boat. <strong>(Sydney Morning Herald)\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>There are almost<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/australia-news\/2020\/oct\/21\/the-wait-indonesias-refugees-describe-life-stuck-in-an-interminable-limbo\">14,000 refugees and asylum seekers living in Indonesia, where the impacts of Australia\u2019s border policies continue to reverberate<\/a><\/strong>. Indonesia was once a transit country where refugees would spend months or a couple of years, at most, before being resettled elsewhere. Australia and the US resettled the majority of refugees from Indonesia, but in recent years both countries have dramatically reduced their refugee intakes from there. <strong>(The Guardian)\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Ben Bland, author of <em>Jokowi<\/em> and director of the Southeast Asia Program at the Lowy Institute, recently discussed <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.defenceconnect.com.au\/key-enablers\/7143-podcast-australia-indonesia-and-the-opportunities-of-southeast-asia-ben-bland-director-southeast-asia-program-lowy-institute\">Australia, Indonesia and the opportunities of Southeast Asia.<\/a><\/strong> Southeast Asia and Australia\u2019s place in it has transformed since the end of the Cold War.
