Our report,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1Zqre_5FuVuA1XMH_KtMYpnRJkF5mFizr\/view?usp=sharing\"><b><i>From Dialogue to Action<\/i><\/b><\/a>, reflects the rich experiences and ideas of these students. Combining personal stories with incisive commentary, this report makes 29 recommendations for improving outward mobility from Australia.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1Zqre_5FuVuA1XMH_KtMYpnRJkF5mFizr\/view?usp=sharing\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18898 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/34.101.188.30\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/DOWNLOAD-THE-REPORT-HERE-1.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-79bff2c elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"79bff2c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-settings=\"{\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What is the Indo-Pacific Student Mobility Dialogue?<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-db056e4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"db056e4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\">\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Indo-Pacific Student Mobility Youth Dialogue<\/strong> is a new initiative that brings together Australian students to discuss the future of international education and mobility. The Dialogue encourages Australian students to reflect on, and provide practical recommendations for improving, overseas study programs.<\/p>\n<p>The Dialogue focused on outward student mobility from Australia to the Indo-Pacific region and was conducted between 7-9pm AEST on 26th August 2020 via Zoom.<\/p>\n<p>Participants were selected through a competitive process.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-585411e elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"585411e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-settings=\"{\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Meet the Convenors<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0f10bdc elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0f10bdc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\">\n<p>The Dialogue was coordinated by a coalition of youth diplomacy organisations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/aasyp.org\/\">ASEAN-Australia Strategic Youth Partnership<\/a>\u00a0(AASYP)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/acya.org.au\/\">Australia China Youth Association<\/a>\u00a0(ACYA)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/aiya.org.au\/\">Australia Indonesia Youth Association<\/a>\u00a0(AIYA)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/acjy.org.au\/\">Australia Japan Youth Dialogue<\/a>\u00a0(AJYD)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All of these organisations are passionate about encouraging meaningful mobility experiences for Australian students.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-04a593b elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"04a593b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-settings=\"{\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Why did we organise the Dialogue?<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c4adc99 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c4adc99\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\">\n<p>Student mobility plays an important role for both students and governments. For students, overseas study offers an opportunity to experience new cultures and be exposed to new ways of thinking. For governments, student mobility is a strategic tool for building stronger people-to-people relations around the world. Australia has a strong tradition of international mobility; approximately one in five Australian undergraduate students complete an overseas educational experience.<\/p>\n<p>COVID-19 has resulted in study exchanges and mobility programs being cancelled across Australia and the globe. Enforced immobility has made us reckon with some fundamental questions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What is student mobility and what is its value?<\/li>\n<li>Can in-country experiences be replicated online?<\/li>\n<li>What can be done to build people-to-people relations when travel is impossible?<\/li>\n<li>How can we improve student mobility in the future, especially through better utilisation of technology?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now is the time to ask these questions\u2014a pause in international travel provides an opportune moment to improve how we approach mobility. This Dialogue will document student perspectives and ideas to assist in re-imagining mobility programs in a post-COVID-19 world.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c405b17 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"c405b17\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-settings=\"{\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">How will the Dialogue create impact?<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5e8400c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5e8400c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\">\n<p>We have worked with delegates to compile a report capturing ideas and recommendations for student mobility programs. This report will be delivered to key stakeholders and decision-makers, including universities, the Department for Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Department of Education, Skills and Employment.<\/p>\n<p>This is an opportunity to get student ideas in front of the movers and shakers of international education.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2a29ce1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"2a29ce1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-settings=\"{\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What was involved in the Dialogue?<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b67e5cf elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b67e5cf\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\">\n<p>Delegates attended two hours of jam-packed discussion, reflection and ideation.
