2020<\/span>,<\/span>undoubtedly, is a one-of-a-kind <\/span>year that has redefined a lot of <\/span>things for us all. There were moments filled with\u00a0 uncertainties, worries, and sorrow. However,\u00a0 we can\u2019t undermine moments that were filled\u00a0 with relief, hope, and gratitude. The emergence\u00a0 of the COVID-19 pandemic forced us to halt\u00a0 all of our plans and required us to adapt to the\u00a0 circumstances in no time.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We begin assembling the Annual in August, with\u00a0 the help of the AIYA National team. We want\u00a0 to express our sincere gratitude, especially\u00a0 to Clarice and Anita, for always guiding us\u00a0 throughout the journey to create this Annual for\u00a0 the AIYA community. The Annual would also not\u00a0 be complete without the touch of the graphic\u00a0 design team! They have successfully delivered\u00a0 the core theme of the Annual through their\u00a0 design, which we hope you can enjoy as well.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With all of the team scattered between\u00a0 Australia and Indonesia, we conducted all of our\u00a0 discussions online. Regardless, we were able\u00a0 to contribute to the Annual and overcome the\u00a0 obstacles that were present. Through the whole\u00a0 process, the purpose of AIYA\u2014to strengthen the\u00a0 relation of both of our countries through youth\u00a0 engagement\u2014is realised. Therefore, it is safe to\u00a0 say that the 2020 AIYA Annual is the creation of\u00a0 Australian and Indonesian youths, which reflect\u00a0 our passion and love for both nations.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite all of the extraordinary challenges we\u00a0 are up against this year, AIYA\u2019s presence and the\u00a0 organisation\u2019s essence to its members do not <\/span>wither away. Reading through what the chapters\u00a0 have been up to in the past year was truly\u00a0 inspiring and hopeful. Before the pandemic, the\u00a0 chapters kicked off the year with various events,\u00a0 including <\/span>AIYA Kongres<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>AIYA Goes to School <\/span><\/i>and <\/span>Language Exchange<\/span><\/i>. When the pandemic\u00a0 started to take a turn for the worse, events and\u00a0 agendas were moved online. All of the chapters\u00a0 have shown a really impressive response to\u00a0 the shift by keeping engaging with members. It\u00a0 is also great to see how a lot of chapters are\u00a0 collaborating with each other in the past year!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On top of all that, we had the honour to read our\u00a0 members\u2019 wonderful submissions, which you\u00a0 can see in the Annual! We received numerous\u00a0 writings and art creations, and we were amazed\u00a0 by the creativity and effort that were put into\u00a0 each piece.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The 2020 AIYA Annual is created to celebrate the\u00a0 wonderful things that happened throughout the\u00a0 year. It has been a rather difficult year for all of\u00a0 us, so we hope this Annual will give you a sense\u00a0 of comfort and consolation by looking back\u00a0 at all the things we did in these extraordinary\u00a0 times. To all our readers, don\u2019t forget to pat\u00a0 yourself in the back once in a while for pulling\u00a0 through and remind yourself of all the wins you\u00a0 have achieved, no matter how small they are.\u00a0 Let\u2019s enter 2021 with a new spirit and hope! Until\u00a0 then, please stay safe and healthy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
