Yesterday, Bank Indonesia\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB10001424127887323324904579042590447253328.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">held an extraordinary board meeting at which it raised its benchmark interest rate by 50 basis points to defend the depreciating Rupiah<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>This article in\u00a0<em>Quartz\u00a0<\/em>gives some good reasons why there&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/qz.com\/119675\/heres-why-indonesias-currency-woes-wont-go-the-way-of-indias\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">no need to panic about Indonesia&#8217;s currency situation<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Inflation is still a problem, as the ABC&#8217;s Helen Brown (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/hbrown10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@hbrown10<\/a>) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2013-08-30\/indonesia-looking-at-10-per-cent-inflation-by-end-fo-the-year\/4923764\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported last night<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>A Newspoll commissioned by DFAT has revealed\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dfat.gov.au\/publications\/australian-attitudes-towards-indonesia\/australian-attitudes-towards-indonesia.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">some dismayingly negative views of Indonesia amongst the Australian public<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>We at AIYA like to think we&#8217;re part of the solution\u2014take a look at our <a title=\"AIYA Annual Members\u2019 Survey 2013\" href=\"http:\/\/www.aiya.org.au\/blog\/aiya-annual-members-survey-2013\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2013 Members&#8217; Survey<\/a> to find out what our members think.<\/li>\n<li>Opposition Leader Tony Abbott&#8217;s boat buyback policy has been <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theaustralian.com.au\/national-affairs\/election-2013\/tony-abbotts-boat-buy-back-plan-an-insult-to-indonesia\/story-fn9qr68y-1226704445792\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">criticised by senior Indonesian parliamentarians<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The Lowy Institute&#8217;s Dave McRae (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/_davemcrae_\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@_DaveMcRae_<\/a>) spoke to leading terrorism analyst, Solahudin, about his newly-translated book on the history of militant Islam in Indonesia.
