{"id":5164,"date":"2015-07-03T02:39:02","date_gmt":"2015-07-03T02:39:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.aiya.org.au\/?p=5164"},"modified":"2021-07-10T13:57:12","modified_gmt":"2021-07-10T03:57:12","slug":"national-australia-indonesia-language-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aiya.org.au\/id\/2015\/07\/03\/national-australia-indonesia-language-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Volunteers Needed: National Australia Indonesia Language Awards\u00a0\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Australia Indonesia Language Awards (NAILA) is\u00a0an AIYA National initiative that aims to reward and foster the development of Indonesian language\u00a0learning\u00a0in Australia at all levels.<\/p>\n<p>Primary school students through to executive level speakers will participate\u00a0in\u00a0a national speech competition\u00a0carried out in several stages, culminating\u00a0with a National Awards ceremony in Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p>Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their language skills, discuss bilateral issues and share traditional arts, culture and musical performances\u00a0with the public.<\/p>\n<p>As Indonesian language classes continue to decline in Australia,\u00a0NAILA hopes to incentivise language learning and reward high-level proficiency to encourage deeper communication, respect and understanding between our two nations.<\/p>\n<p><b>We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate volunteers<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><b>to join our team to\u00a0organise<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><b>a successful inaugural event!\u00a0<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>NAILA COMMITTEE\u00a0POSITONS<\/p>\n<p><i>Indonesian and Australian citizens proficient in Bahasa Indonesia and English (preferably based in Melbourne) are welcome to apply!<\/i><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>General requirements:<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Demonstrated interest in the Australia-Indonesia relationship and Bahasa Indonesia.<\/li>\n<li>5-hour commitment per week.<\/li>\n<li>Commitment to attend all weekly committee meetings (1 hour) and to attend the three-day NAILA Award Ceremony\u00a0weekend.<\/li>\n<li>Strong time management, written and communication skills.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work in a small team and autonomously to carry out tasks to deadlines.<\/li>\n<li><i>Preferable: established networks with individuals and\u00a0organisations\u00a0working on the Australia<\/i><i>&#8211;<\/i><i>Indonesia relationship, Indonesian language training or business ventures. competition\u00a0organising\u00a0(i.e. Rostrum, Tournament of Minds,\u00a0UN Evatt Competition,\u00a0sports\u00a0etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated fluency in Bahasa Indonesia<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of school and university Indonesian curriculum<\/li>\n<li>Experience gaining sponsorship is desirable<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Position description:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Recruit\u00a0judging panel<\/li>\n<li>Research appropriate speech topics for each award category<\/li>\n<li>Generate a marking grid for judges\u2019\u00a0assessment of\u00a0participants<\/li>\n<li>Create\u00a0content for the website and brochures relevant to the portfolio (including speech templates and tip sheets on oral presentation skills)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Schools Engagement Officer\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Skills:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Previous experience working with schools\u00a0(especially children)<\/li>\n<li>Working With Children Check (or equivalent)<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication and presentation skills<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of the Australian National Curriculum<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated\u00a0proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia<\/li>\n<li>Experience gaining sponsorship is desirable<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Position description:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Engagement with Indonesian LOTE teachers<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with relevant teachers\u2019\u00a0associations i.e. Victorian Indonesian Language Teachers Association (VILTA)<\/li>\n<li>Organise\u00a0schools visits for language ambassadors (AIYA volunteers)<\/li>\n<li>Arrange NAILA information evenings\u00a0for schools and work with the AIYA Chapter Presidents to set up NAILA language workshops in each state and territory<\/li>\n<li>Create\u00a0content for the website and brochures relevant to the portfolio (including speech templates and tip sheets on oral presentation skills) \u00a0\u00a0<b>\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Universities Engagement Officer\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Skills:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Previous experience working with lecturers\u00a0and university students<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication and presentation
