Sulawesi Selatan

Some may say Sulawesi Selatan is an unusual destination for an AIYA Chapter but since its establishment in 2017 AIYA SulSel has gone from strength to strength. The Chapter was created thanks to the 2016-17 cohort of the Australia-Indonesia Youth Exchange Program (AIYEP) and was proudly supported by the Australian Consulate General, Makassar. As an environmental education enthusiast, Akbar has actively contributed to various environmental activities and collaborations. He is also interested in participating in several Australia-Indonesia programs focused on the environment, forestry, and energy transition, especially the Ridge to Reef (R2R) conservation concept. Akbar believes that AIYA's cultural-educational exchanges between Australian and Indonesian youth could provide deeper insights into environmental differences and approaches toward environmental issues.
