Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received an official visit from Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Lima, Peru, on Thursday, November 14, 2024. The meeting provided an opportunity for both leaders to strengthen diplomatic ties and cooperation in various strategic areas. During the meeting, Albanese commended Prabowo’s proactive approach to global diplomacy, particularly his inaugural visits to China and the United States. He expressed his aspiration to deepen the Indonesia-Australia partnership, focusing on key areas such as agriculture, education, and healthcare..

- Trade and the potential impact of an upcoming Donald Trump presidency are dominating discussions at an economic forum of world leaders. Mr Albanese said he had a good discussion with his Indonesian counterpart during their first meeting since the president’s inauguration, discussing what a Trump presidency would mean for the world. - Indonesia’s new president wants to reduce the nation’s reliance on food imports. Australia exports significant volumes of wheat, red meat and live cattle to Indonesia every year. (ABC News)
- The Indonesian and Australian militaries began joint combat drills off Indonesia’s main island of Java on Wednesday with about 2,000 troops training in air, maritime, amphibious and land operations. The four-day Keris Woomera 2024 exercise highlighted the cooperation between the countries strengthened by the recent signing of the Australia-Indonesia Defense Cooperation Agreement.(Associated Press)
