- Indonesia has confirmed beef import permits for 2025 totalling 188,000 tonnes, a significant rise on volumes seen last year. Nearest neighbour Indonesia exploded as a boxed beef market for Australia during 2024, in addition to, rather than in place of live cattle export trade. (Beef Central)
- On 7 January, Indonesia officially joined the BRICS grouping. Indonesia’s inclusion in BRICS enhances the representation of the Global South and strengthens efforts to reform global governance institutions. This move positions the bloc as a stronger platform for collaboration among developing nations. (Australian Institute of International Affairs)
- Pemerintah Indonesia tengah menggodok kebijakan baru yakni pembatasan media sosial bagi anak-anak. Hal ini belajar dari Australia yang pada akhir November 2024 telah mengesahkan undang-undang yang melarang anak-anak di bawah usia 16 tahun menggunakan media sosial. (Tempo)

- For many, Australia Day is a day of celebration of the country’s values, freedoms and entertainment. For some, particularly among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, January 26 is seen as a day commemorating the invasion by British settlers of land already owned. Mr. Eko Waluyo, a humanitarian activist who has lived in Australia for a long time, gave his opinion on the changes in the celebration of Australia Day in the past to the present day. (SBS Australia)
- Pelangi Indonesia School, an initiative of the Indonesian-Australian community in New South Wales, began its journey in early 2011 under the organisation Indonesian-Australian Families Association of New South Wales Incorporated (IAFA Inc.). In its operation for more than 10 years, Sekolah Indonesia Pelangi is supported by a number of volunteer teachers who are very dedicated in teaching Indonesian language and culture. - The Jakarta Bintangs is an Australian Football Club with membership open to anyone, beginners are most welcome. The club organises games throughout the year, mostly in Jakarta, with occasional games across Indonesia and overseas. Tours are planned to Bali, Batam, Vietnam and Thailand this year. Training is mostly held at Lapangan Bola Aldiron in Jakarta on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. On occasion, training sessions are also held Thursday nights in the GBK complex.
