- One of the Top End’s most elite schools will ditch the language of Australia’s closest Asian neighbour in a move experts say flies in the face of preparing students for the future. Despite being located closer to Bali than Sydney, the Essington School in Darwin confirmed. (ABC News)
- The five remaining members of the Bali Nine jailed for life over a drug smuggling plot have returned to Australia under a deal negotiated with the Indonesian government, describing themselves as “relieved and happy” (The Guardian)
- Prabowo has appointed 112 members to his Red and White Cabinet, comprising 48 ministers, 5 ministerial-level officials, and 59 vice ministers. His “bloated” cabinet reflects a strategy of rewarding loyalists, retaining trusted Jokowi aides, and placating political opponents. - Pelangi Indonesia School, an initiative of the Indonesian-Australian community in New South Wales, began its journey in early 2011 under the organisation Indonesian-Australian Families Association of New South Wales Incorporated (IAFA Inc.). In its operation for more than 10 years, Sekolah Indonesia Pelangi is supported by a number of volunteer teachers who are very dedicated in teaching Indonesian language and culture. - The Jakarta Bintangs is an Australian Football Club with membership open to anyone, beginners are most welcome. The club organises games throughout the year, mostly in Jakarta, with occasional games across Indonesia and overseas. Tours are planned to Bali, Batam, Vietnam and Thailand this year. Training is mostly held at Lapangan Bola Aldiron in Jakarta on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. On occasion, training sessions are also held Thursday nights in the GBK complex. - ASEAN-Australia Centre under the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade welcomes application on ASEAN-Australia Young Women Entrepreneurs’ Exchange Program. This 12-weeks program is designed to young (aged between 18 years and less than 40 years) female social entrepreneurs from Australia, all ASEAN member states and Timor-Leste for online and in-person leadership development, business and creative skills building and collaboration.
