Become a Committee Member


 

AIYA has volunteers all across Australia and Indonesia. Committee members are between the ages of 16-35 years old and are full paid members. You do not need to be based in a particular location to join a committee, however, Chapter committees are generally comprised of people located in that state, territory or province.

Join a chapter

Chapter Executive members (President, Vice President, Secretary) are elected at an Annual General Meeting (AGM). 

  1. Prior to the AGM, position descriptions of the available positions are advertised via social media and the website

  2. Candidates submit their application prior to the application deadline

  3. Members of the current Chapter Executive team not renominating themselves shortlist candidates

  4. During the AGM, nominated candidates will give a brief presentation to those present 

  5. Vote undertaken to determine who is selected for a position. 

Other members of the Chapter team (Treasurer, Communications Officers, Events Officers), if not elected at the AGM, are recruited through an Open Recruitment process.

Please note that Chapter AGMs are usually held between September and November but this varies between Chapters. All Chapter level positions are held for a period of one year and the same position is only able to be held for a maximum of two terms.

Join the national team

Directors are elected biannually at a National AGM.

  1. Prior to the AGM, position descriptions of all available Director Positions will be advertised via social media and the website

  2. Candidates submit their application prior to the application deadline

  3. Selection committee comprised of Directors nor renominating themselves for positions shortlist candidates

  4. An interview selection process is undertaken

  5. Shortlisted candidates who have progressed past the interview stage have their CVs circulated to the National Executive who have voting rights (Current Directors and Chapter Presidents)

  6. During the AGM, nominated candidates will give a brief presentation to those present

  7. Vote undertaken to determine who is selected for a position.

Director Positions are held for an initial period of two years and the same position is only able to be held for a maximum of two terms.

Officer Positions are recruited through an Open Recruitment process throughout the year.

  1. Position descriptions of available positions will be advertised via social media and the website

  2. Candidates submit their application prior to the application deadline

  3. Selection committee comprised of members of the relevant National team shortlist candidates

  4. An interview selection process is undertaken 

  5. National team selects their preferred candidate for the position.

Officer Positions are generally held for a period of one year, with the opportunity for extension.
