  • Muslim educators fear holding NAPLAN during Ramadan will disadvantage students – The decision to hold crucial exams during one of the most sacred periods in the Islamic calendar will put young Muslims “at a clear disadvantage” and undermine “the principles of equity, inclusion, and fairness”, a leading educator says.
  • Australia’s Lachlan Kennedy wins historic silver at World Athletics Indoor Championships – Australia’s Lachlan Kennedy has claimed a historic silver medal in the men’s 60 metres at the World Athletics Indoor Championships after being pipped for gold in a blistering finish in Nanjing, China.
  • Flights to Bali resume after volcanic eruption grounded planes – Several flights in and out of Bali were disrupted following a volcanic eruption in Indonesia on Friday morning, before resuming in the evening as conditions approved. Lewotobi, a twin volcano located in the south-eastern area of the island of Flores, began spewing ash late on Thursday, local time. 
  • Indonesian, Australian FMs agree to optimize strategic partnership – Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono and his Australian counterpart Penny Wong expressed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in priority sectors, under the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
  • University of Indonesia Climbs to 4th in Southeast Asia Rankings – The University of Indonesia (UI) has further improved its standing among universities in Southeast Asia, Asia, and globally, according to the EduRank 2025 rankings. This year, UI is ranked 4th best in Southeast Asia, 70th in Asia, and 460th in the world.
  • UI Law Students Petition Constitutional Court for Judicial Review of TNI Law – Seven University of Indonesia (UI) Law students filed a judicial review regarding the revision of Law Number 34 of 2004 concerning the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI Law) to the Constitutional Court. The petitioners’ attorney, Abu Rizal Biladina, stated that the lawsuit was filed due to the unconstitutional formation process.
  • The future of Indonesia’s green industrial policy – Indonesia’s green industrial policy has focused on increasing the value of raw critical minerals through onshore processing and building a domestic electric vehicle (EV) industry. It appears to have worked, in a limited sense. The country now produces much of the world’s mined and refined nickel and has become a major destination for global EV supply chains.
