The Indonesian election could be decided by the economy, not religion. Indonesia’s sliding rupiah could threaten President Joko Widodo’s re-election chances, with his political rival shifting the debate to the economy in an attempt to expose a key weakness, analysts say.

- Former Indonesian Vice President, Boediono has said the key for Indonesia to excel as a nation is a collective awareness of preparing its future generations, in his keynote speech at the 2018 Scholar Conference in Jakarta.
- Indonesian ride-hailing app, Go-Jek announces full launch in Vietnam with partner Go-Viet.
- Competition is likely to heat up in the Asian coal market as Russia seeks new buyers, challenging traditional suppliers Australia and Indonesia.
- The maritime affairs ministry, Bali regional government, Ocean Conservancy Institution, NGOs, and a total of 1,287 volunteers gathered at the Padang Galak Beach in Bali last Saturday, collecting as much as 841.53 kilograms of garbage.

- Melbourne, October 10 – AIYA Victoria is hosting a welcome evening and trivia night for the 2018-2018 Australia-Indonesia Youth Exchange Program (AIYEP) participants. Join them for a casual evening to get to know the participants and welcome them all to Victoria. Food provided.
