SOUNDSEKERTA 2019
The biggest annual Indonesian concert that has been in Melbourne for 13 years, SOUNDSEKERTA, is back on 28 September in Melbourne Town Hall! The theme this year, “Mosaic of Nation”, showcases the power of music by bringing different cultural, ethnic, religious, and linguistic pieces of Indonesia together into a beautiful mosaic. This event provides a sense of nostalgia to Indonesians that are missing home while giving a unique experience for Melbournians to experience Indonesian music. This year, SOUNDSEKERTA has three artists, not two like previous concerts! The three amazing artists are Tompi, RAN, and Yura Yunita.
Tompi is a legendary Jazz artist who surprisingly also has a successful career as a certified plastic surgeon. He has been a singer for more than 7 years and along the way he has received multiple awards for his songs, the most famous one Sedari Dulu won AMI Awards in 2009. Tompi is a part of Trio Lestari, a trio which includes household names in the Jazz music industry like Glenn Fredly and Sandhy Sondoro.
Back by popular demand for the second concert in SOUNDSEKERTA, RAN is a band that has 3 members, Rayi, Asta, and Nino. The band first debuted in 2007 with the hit song Pandangan Pertama, and since then they have been dominating the music charts throughout the years. The most popular one is Dekat di Hati which won Hits of the Year by Rolling Stone in 2017. In the same year, RAN also has collaboration with Yura Yunita in Melawan Dunia.
The third artist, Yura Yunita has been captivating the Indonesia music world since the release of Cinta dan Rahasia featuring Glenn Fredly. Yura released another popular song in 2015, Berawal dari Tatap. She also won Best Pop Female Solo Artist and Best Pop Songwriter for Intuisi in 2017, which solidified her as one of the top upcoming talents. Her latest release is Harus Bahagia which is part of her album Merakit has won her the Best Pop Female Solo Artist by AMI.
