CONNECT. INFORM. INSPIRE

It would be an understatement to say 2020 has been a challenging for all us. Despite this, AIYA has continued to expand and fulfil it’s mission of “Connect. Inform. Inspire” by moving our events online! We look forward to presenting our year in the our 2020 Annual Report, but now it’s time to hear from you!

AIYA is seeking submissions from individual members for the 2020 AIYA Annual. In 2018 and 2019 AIYA Annual, we received an amazing range of original material from our talented AIYA members, and we are excited to feature your work again this year!

Some ideas for your piece can include, but are certainly not limited to:

  • Opinion pieces
  • News articles
  • Photo essays
  • Thesis excerpts
  • Book/film reviews
  • Short stories
  • Interviews

For inspiration, you may wish to read one member’s story a member’s interview with the Vice President of Balai Bahasa dan Budaya Indonesia Queensland in the 2018 Annual (p.44) or literary movements in Indonesia in 2019 (p. 43).

But feel free to get creative! You may even like to expand/update an earlier piece you have written for the AIYA blog. If you’re an AIYA chapter committee member, you’re also welcome to contribute a piece as an individual member (alongside the input from your chapter). Submissions can be in English or Bahasa Indonesia.

The best pieces will be selected for publication in the AIYA Annual, to be released in December 2020.

Please direct your submissions to [email protected] by 13 November, 2020. Submissions for AIYA Annual is open to the general public.

In the meantime, if you have any questions or need some creative direction don’t hesitate to get in touch!
