Josh is AIYA’s National treasurer, which means that he is in charge of keeping the books and finances up to date. Josh has lived in Sydney, and got his degree in accounting from Macquarie University. His journey in AIYA has been memorable and is one that shall be cherished.

Why did you join AIYA?

I first knew about AIYA when I was in university. I saw the work that AIYA had been doing and was totally up for it. It was incredible to me, how many do not know or understand the importance that Indonesia plays in Australia and that not enough attention was brought to it. It was also a chance for me to get in touch with my Indonesian side.

What has your AIYA Journey been like? I also understand that you’ll be leaving soon.

My journey has been awesome. I’ve been with AIYA for 4 years now, and it’s time to let the next batch of talent takeover. I will still stay up to date with AIYA stuff, even if I’m not with the group anymore you will still see me one way or the other (that’s how much AIYA means to Josh!).

What AIYA has taught you, and what skills have you learned?

That’s a good question! As the national treasurer, AIYA has taught me so much about financial management and how I manage finances. It has helped me improve my skills in that regard. Yes, there is always work, but I was able to exercise and use my finance skills for a volunteer organization.

How have the people of AIYA been?

You can see just by looking at the amount of members AIYA has right now, that it is a welcoming community.  A community that welcomes you like family, and the nicest people I’ve ever met.

AIYA is one of the fastest developing Youth groups in, and we’re looking to hire. If you are interested in joining, click here for more information.
