AIYA Annual 2023 is here!

In 2014, the New Colombo Plan was envisaged as a way for Australians to become ‘ambassadors’ to the Indo-Pacific and to promote the Indo-Pacific at home. While this personal ‘ambassadorship’ applies to some NCP students and hosts in Indonesia, for many more, their relationships are based off ‘small’ everyday interactions. Be it sharing food, participating in cultural exchange or providing a safe space on LGBTQI+ issues, these ‘small acts’ among Indonesians and Australians are essential to the New Colombo Plan’s mission — in their own way, they help form deeper linkages between Australia and the Indo-Pacific.

The Australia Exchange Program allows students to spend 1 to 1.5 years studying at Monash University, Indonesia, followed by an additional 6 months at the Monash University campus in Australia.   • Scotch College to become the latest school to phase out Indonesian studies. Experts say it’s indicative of a broader decline in the teaching of Indonesian language and culture, even as Australia’s economic ties with the country strengthen. (ABC News)

The club organises games throughout the year, mostly in Jakarta, with occasional games across Indonesia and overseas. Tours are planned to Bali, Batam, Vietnam and Thailand this year. Training is mostly held at Lapangan Bola Aldiron in Jakarta on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. On occasion, training sessions are also held Thursday nights in the GBK complex.
