We began assembling the 2022 Annual in August, with the help of the AIYA National team. We want to express our sincere gratitude to Clarice who lead us as National President, Kilau (Anggi) our Director of Communications, the Chief editor Ashton, and our AIYA Annual Editors, Safira and Fransiska. The Annual would also not be complete without the creative talents of the graphic design team, lead by Dhiya (Aisy)! They have successfully delivered the core theme of the Annual through their design, which we hope you can enjoy as well. 

With all of the team scattered between Australia and Indonesia, we conducted our discussions and collaborations online, while also having many offline events executed by our AIYA chapters, strengthening the relationship of both of our countries through youth engagement. Reading through what the chapters have been up to in the past year is truly inspiring and hopeful for the future of Australia-Indonesia relations.

The aim of the 2022 AIYA Annual is to celebrate the wonderful events from throughout the year. 2022 saw a refreshed commitment to the Australia-Indonesia bilateral relationship in education, international business and trade. Since the beginning of COVID-19, Indonesian language studies has drastically declined. However, in 2022 the mood shifted to recognising the fundamental need for a strong relationship between our neighbouring countries once again. We are excited to see the relationship continue to grow and reignite a passion for Indonesian language and studies into the future.

Let’s enter 2023 with a new spirit and hope! Until then, please stay safe and healthy.
